Paphos is in many respects the most attractive of Cyprus’s major holiday districts. However, neither Paphos new town or indeed, Kato Paphos (old town) have recognised beaches. These can be found 11 Kilometres further north of the town on the west coast of Paphos called, Coral Bay.
Kato Paphos is old town with a harbour, castle, and good reasonably priced fish restaurants along the harbour-side. Whether it be lunch or an evening meal, the atmosphere is excellent. Maybe, enjoy a boat trip before lunch or an evening dinner cruise which can be booked in advance or at the harbour-side.
Local ancient sites including the Mosaics of Paphos (admission charge) and at the north end of Kato Paphos, is a complex of rock-cut tombs, where leading citizens of Paphos were interred during the city’s Hellenistic and Roman periods (3rd century BC to 3rd century AD).
Recommendation:
During the day, Kato Paphos is well recommended for visiting ancient sites, the picturesque harbour, the castle, a local boat trip and/or lunch or maybe, an evening meal followed by a walk by the harbour.
