kourion, cyprus
The cliffside and magnificient views overlooking the sea at Kourion’s ampthitheatre and the ruins of the Greco-Roman city are not to be missed. A half-day is needed to visit the city ruins and mosaics steeped in history. Highly recommended and a must see for those interested in Roman history/archaeology. In extreme sunny weather best wear a hat/umbrella to protect from the searing sun.

aprodite's rock, cyprus
Probably the island’s most well-known site easily accessible from the costal road between Limassol and Kato Paphos. A place of pilgrimage for romantic couples particularly for those tying the knot! The unusual rock formation standing in shallow sea water means ‘Rock of the Greek’ and comes from the legend of he Byzantine hero Dighenis, who hurled enormous rocks at Arab invaders and destroyed their fleet. However, the rock’s fame stands from more ancient and timeless myth, for it was here that Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and love, first set foot in the world. A must photo shoot, but swimming around Aphrodite’s Rock should only be left to strong swimmers in calm water conditions!

It’s sandy beach is reached via a long side-road from the main Limassol – Paphos highway passing through Pissouri village which boasts its own modern amphitheatre.
